The renovation and restoration work of the former Children’s Hospital in Meilahti, Helsinki, was carried out by Architect Group Reino Koivula, Inc. The City of Helsinki gave the building the so called Rakentamisen Ruusu Award (‘Rose of Construction’) for brilliantly executed project. The jury states the following:
- The renovation of an existing building highlights the principles of sustainable construction at its best. The building has been equipped with modern hospital technology.
- The building has been treated with utmost respect despite the large modifications to the functionality and interiors.
- The project managed to monitor the construction process extremely well and communication between the different parties involved was carried out well to achieve the high standard of indoor quality.
