European Healthcare Design Conference 2019

Riitta Pikkuhookana and Mikko Sinervo took part in the European Healthcare Design Conference which was held between the 17th and 19th of June at the Royal College of Physicians, London.

One of the most interesting lectures was given by Don Parker, the CEO at Carrier Clinic in New Jersey, US. His experience as both running a prison as well as now a successful mental health clinic gave a wonderful insight on how small interventions, such as having animals like goats on the hospital grounds can prevent patients from relapsing.

Architect Group Reino Koivula also had the privilege of giving a talk on the New Children’s Hospital as a part of a session focused on paediatric health care. This was also a great opportunity to premier the new film on The New Children’s Hospital by the filmmaker Olli Koivula. The New Children’s Hospiltal was extremely well received by the audience.

Architect Group Reino Koivula and SARC Architects received an award for the interior design and arts of The New Children’s Hospital in a ceremony organised by Salus and Architects for Health.
